Toronto distributor and prodco Union Pictures has appointed Ian Cooper as chief operating officer, effective immediately.

Cooper, a lawyer by trade who has spent more than a decade as a legal and strategic advisor to media, entertainment and technology companies, started his career in the technology group at Torys LLP.

His experience includes positions at Stohn Hay Cafazzo Dembroski Richmond LLP and Syncapse Corp., a global provider of social media management solutions.
