The ABCs of Death, a horror anthology that was featured during the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness stream in 2012, is to join Cineplex Theatre’s Sinister Cinema series after its Canadian rights were acquired by Video Services Corp. from Magnolia Pictures.
Sinister Cinema was created by Toronto-based distributor Raven Banner and Cineplex Theatre earlier this year.
The 25-Cineplex run is to begin on May 23, preceded by screenings at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver.
The anthology features segments directed by over two dozen leading talents in contemporary genre film, including Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl), Andrew Traucki (The Reef), Ti West (The House of the Devil), Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse) and Jason Eisener (Hobo With a Shotgun).
“We’re excited to have our first of hopefully many films included in the Sinister Cinema program,” said VSC president Jonathan Gross, in a statement.
The deal was negotiated by Gross and Christina Rogers of Magnolia Pictures.
This story was updated to indicate Raven Banner’s role in Sinister Cinema.
