Mimi Wolch replacing Sue Milling at ACTRA Toronto

Mimi Wolch has been named as ACTRA Toronto’s director of independent and broadcast production, replacing Sue Milling.

Milling also returns to working with ACTRA’s strategic alliance partner, the United Steelworkers (USW) under the terms of a three-year secondment agreement between the two unions.

“Sue’s ability to bring people together has made a strong impact in areas of youth engagement, diversity, training, stunt and women’s issues. She played a key role in obtaining important gains in the most recent round of negotiations of ACTRA’s independent production agreement (IPA). Her secondment has given ACTRA Toronto the opportunity to find and train her able replacement in Ms. Wolch, whose leadership skills are well-known throughout the industry,” said ACTRA Toronto exec director Brian Topp in a statement.

Wolch worked with Milling on ACTRA Toronto’s board as senior advisor, assisting with the recent IPA baraining.

Wolch is the former director of contract administration at the Directors’ Guild of Canada Ontario. She is also former international VP of I.A.T.S.E. and past board member of Film Ontario. She is the current co-chair of the Toronto Film Board.

Her appointment is effective Jan.1 , 2013.
