Remstar Films takes Jean-Marc Vallee’s Dallas Buyers Club

Montreal-based distributor Remstar Films has acquired the Canadian rights for Dallas Buyers Club, from Quebec director Jean-Marc Vallee.

The film, now in production in New Orleans, stars Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto.

Dallas Buyers Club tells the true story of Texan cowboy Ron Woodroof, played by McConaughey, who was diagnosed with HIV and fights against a politically corrupted system and his own destiny.

Dallas Buyers Club is produced by Cassian Elwes (The Butler), Rachel Winters (Brooklyn Rules) and Relativity Media production president Robbie Brenner.

Remstar will distribute the film in Canada in 2013, and eOne will handle rights in all media for the film in Canada as part of an on-going pact with Remstar, excluding theatrical, VOD and French-language TV rights in Quebec.
