The Rogers Documentary and Cable Network Fund has named 17 English and French documentary film projects that will receive unscripted grants totaling $1.17 million.

The projects, all of which applied to the Rogers Documentary Fund before its Aug. 8 deadline, include eight docs that have the CBC on board as a confirmed broadcaster.

Those eight docs include Carpe Diem: A Fishy Tale from Fishstix Films; Flying Solo from Sunday Night Entertainment; Human: The Miracle of a Species from Clearwater Documentary; and Monsoon from Intuitive Picture, with Sturla Gunnarsson, Luc Martin-Gousset and Ina Fichman on board as producers.

Myth or Science 2: The Quest for Perfection from Infield Fly Productions; Tick Tock – Lyme Disease: Misdiagnosed, Under Reported and Epidemic from Merit Motion Pictures; and Zoo Revolution from Dream Street Pictures round out the Rogers Documentary Fund grantees that are set for a CBC broadcast. In addition, Love Under Other Skies from E2F Film has also landed a doc grant, with both the CBC and Quebec’s TV5 confirmed as broadcasters.

Other grantees include Boy on Bridge from Petty Harbour Productions and Maddox Cove Productions, with Allan Hawco, star and EP of Republic of Doyle, listed as one of the producers for the Country Music Television and Movie Central project; and My Big Fat Punjabi Wedding for OMNI Television.

Filthy Gorgeous: The Life and Times of Bob Guccione from Melbar Entertainment Group, with Bob Guccione Jr. as producer for The Movie Network, Movie Central and EPIX (U.S.); and Gone South: How Canada Invented Hollywood from Designer Living Productions for Super Channel, round out the English language doc grantees.

The French-language doc grantees are À la rescousse des zombies for ARTV, Au Québec avec Tintin from Echo Média Productions for Télé-Québec; Carré Rouge from Productions Multi-Monde for Télé-Québec; Collectionner est plus qu’il n’en paraît Productions Triangle for ARTV; and Eaux: Réflexions for Canal D.
