Package Deal begins production with live studio audience

Production began Sunday, Oct. 21 on Thunderbird Films’ Package Deal, the new multi-cam comedy series for Citytv.

The 13-part series is taped in front a live studio audience in Burnaby B.C.

Package Deal is currently the only Canadian adult sitcom to be shot in front of a live studio audience and we are excited to offer a new way for viewers to engage with our programming by seeing the production come to life first-hand,” said Claire Freeland, Rogers Media director of original programming, broadcast in a statement.

“In-studio filming presents a unique opportunity for audiences to get a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the filming process, along with an evening of free entertainment,” said Thunderbird Films president Michael Shepard in his own statement.

The series follows three overly close brothers and the woman who comes between them.

Package Deal stars Randal Edwards (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Canuck comedians Harland Williams (There’s Something About Mary) and Jay Malone (Monk), and Julia Voth (Bitch Slap).

Slated to premiere in 2013 on Citytv, Package Deal is created by Andrew Orenstein (Malcolm in the Middle, 3rd Rock from the Sun), with Denise Moss (Frasier, Roseanne) and veteran stand-up comedian Stevie Ray Fromstein in the writers room.
