Daytime talk show Cityline to end after 40 years

Host Tracy Moore announced on social media that the Citytv talk show will be reimagined into the fifth hour of Breakfast Television.

Citytv’s daytime talk show Cityline is ending after 40 years on the air.

Host Tracy Moore (pictured) took to Instagram on Tuesday (April 30) to announce the show is coming to an end on Friday (May 3). The show has been marking its 40th anniversary in a celebratory week of special interviews and segments.

Moore will stay on at Citytv in a different role, becoming the host of a fifth hour of the broadcaster’s morning show Breakfast Television. The lifestyle-focused hour, running from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., will begin in September, with more details to come.

“We’re proud of Cityline and its remarkable 40 years on Canadian television, inspiring audiences with the latest lifestyle trends,” said a spokesperson for Citytv in a statement, noting that the one-hour addition will “build on this legacy and evolve the format” on Breakfast Television. “We thank the Cityline team and all the guest experts over the years for their unwavering dedication and contributions.”

Moore has served as the host of Cityline since 2008, when she succeeded longtime host Marilyn Denis, whose tenure at the talk show began in 1989. Cityline was originally hosted by Dini Petty when it launched in 1984.

“It’s been an honour to be part of Cityline‘s 40 years,” wrote Moore on Instagram. “Like everything in this world – things change and evolve. Today is a tough one. We will get through it. And when we do I look forward to engaging in the same nuanced conversations we’ve spearheaded on Cityline to a new live hour of BT.”
