Gaiam Vivendi snags U.S. rights to Dead Before Dawn 3D

In Canadian market news at TIFF, Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to Dead Before Dawn 3D (pictured), from director April Mullen and co-writer and producer Tim Doiron at indie producer Wango Films.

The deal for the Christopher Lloyd-starring indie zombie pic was unveiled by VMI Worldwide, which is handling international sales and earlier sold the picture into Germany, U.K. and Russia.

Dead Before Dawn 3D also secured a pre-sale with Canadian pay TV channels Movie Central and The Movie Network.

The Fantasia International Film Festival also reports two new deals for projects first pitched at its inaugural Frontières international co-production market.

The first sees Raven Banner Entertainment taking worldwide sales for Dark Hollow, to be directed by Paul Campion and to shoot in spring 2013.

And the RKSS Collective project Turbo Kid has brought EMAfilms’ Anne-Marie Gelinas and Benoit Beaulieu on board as the Canadian producer.

The project, penned by François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell, already signed up Ant Timpson as the New Zealand producer, and Jason Eisener (Hobo With a Shotgun) as an executive producer.
