Canadian-Irish copro Vikings adds local actors

Canadian actors Jessalyn Gilsig (pictured) and Katheryn Winnick have been added to the cast of the History Channel and Shaw Media scripted series Vikings, as have Travis Fimmel, Gustaf Skarsgard and Clive Standen.

Gilsig (Glee) is to perform the role of Gabriel Byrne‘s spouse on the Canadian-Irish co-production from Toronto-based Take 5 Productions (The Tudors, Camelot) and Ireland’s World 2000.

The series, to be filmed at the newly built Ashford Studios in Ireland, will have all post-production, VFX, sound design and music composition taking place in Canada, has also hired Johan Renck and Ken Girotti to direct episodes.

Vikings, written by The Tudors‘ Michael Hirst, portrays Norsemen who raided and traded during medieval times.

Byrne plays a Viking ruler in Lothbrok’s district who opposes Lothbrok’s ambitions to rule the tribes.

Travis Fimmel is managed by Management 360, while Katheryn Winnick is repped by Gersh, as is Clive Standen.
