Encore expands post and VFX presence in Vancouver

U.S. post-production and VFX house Encore is coming north, with the addition of a new facility in Vancouver.

Encore is owned by entertainment service provider Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, which has locations worldwide, including three Canadian sites in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

The new facility, which will focus on post and VFX services for TV, further expands Vancouver’s rep as a thriving post-production and VFX centre, and will bring more jobs for local talent.

“British Columbia has been a major television production centre for many years,” said Bill Romeo, senior TV VP for Deluxe, said in a statement. He added B.C. is believed to be the fourth-largest film and TV production centre in North America.

Encore’s VFX Vancouver division will be headed up by Ivan Hayden, who most recently ran Warner Bros. TV’s in-house VFX studio for their Supernatural series.

Hayden will report to Tom Kendall, VFX VP for television at Deluxe.

The Vancouver location is currently at work on CW pilot Cult.

Encore has offices in Hollywood, New York, and a sister Deluxe TV facility in Burbank.

The Vancouver Encore facility will be housed in Deluxe’s existing post-production facility, which is also the local site of Method Studios, Deluxe’s feature film and commercial VFX facility.
