Bell Media orders more The L.A. Complex for MuchMusic

Production will start shortly in Toronto and Los Angeles on 13 more episodes of The L.A. Complex from Epitome Pictures.

The return to the studio follows Bell Media on Thursday raising its commitment to the homegrown soap about wannabe stars in Hollywood to 19 episodes for the MuchMusic specialty channel.

Six one-hour episodes of The L.A. Complex, which is executive produced, written and directed by Martin Gero, were initially ordered by CTV and MuchMusic.

The CW, which airs The L.A. Complex, has not yet ordered extra episodes of the Canadian drama.

The U.S. network is airing an initial 13 episodes through the spring and summer.

The drama was previously known as Highland Gardens, and stars Jonathan Patrick Moore, Joe Dinicol, Andra Fuller, Chelan Simmons, Cassie Steele, Benjamin Charles Watson and Jewel Staite.

The L.A. Complex is executive produced by Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn of Epitome Pictures, along with Gero.

Trish Williams is the production executive for MuchMusic and Bell Media.
