Larry King to receive Banff fest tribute

The Banff World Media Festival is to give its lifetime achievement award to U.S. talk show veteran Larry King at its upcoming 33rd edition.

“Larry King is one of the most significant contributors to the broadcast industry, heralded for his unique and unwavering approach to piquing public interest and creating new discourse,” Ferne Cohen, Banff festival executive director, said of this year’s choice.

King hosted Larry King Live on CNN for 25 years, capping a radio and TV career that has spanned 50 years.

Past honourees of the Banff lifetime achievement award include David Attenborough, Jeremy Isaacs, James Burrows, Edward Asner, Sheila Nevins and William Shatner.

The Banff World Media Festival is set to run from June 10 to 13.
