Sudz Sutherland has started shooting his sophomore feature, Home Again, with an ensemble cast led by Tatyana Ali (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and Jamaican star Paul Campbell.
The indie film, from Hungry Eyes Film & Television, will be lensed over 30 days in Trinidad and Jamaica, before returning to Toronto for additional shooting days and post-production.
The fish-out-of-water drama portrays three young people deported to Jamaica after being raised abroad since infancy.
Home Again, the follow-up to Sutherland’s Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones, which was named the best Canadian first feature at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival, is produced by Don Carmody, Jennifer Holness and the National Film Board of Canada’s Anita Lee.
Sutherland and Holness co-wrote the movie script.
The ensemble cast includes Lyriq Bent (Rookie Blue), Stephan James, Richard Chevolleau, C.C.H. Pounder (Law & Order SVU), and Canadian recording star Fefe Dobson.
The film has financing from the NFB, Telefilm Canada and The Harold Greenberg Fund.
Entertainment One will release Home Again in Canada.
