Showtime eyeing The Yard from Whizbang Films for U.S. broadcast

Entertainment One (eOne) is in talks to sell the six-part Canada miniseries The Yard from Whizbang Films to Showtime in the U.S.

The Canadian show was created and written by Michael Mabbott and David Eddie and aired on HBO Canada.

The miniseries, which takes mob rules to the school playground, stars Quintin Colantoni, Keana Bastidas, Sarah Cranmer, Daniel Lupetina, Alex Cardillo, Shemar Charles.

No agreement has yet been inked, but a possible Showtime acquisition of the Canadian mockumentary would follow the U.S. network airing The Tudors, a Canada-UK coproduction.

The Yard is executive produced by Paul Gross, Frank Siracusa, David Eddie and Michael Mabbott.

HBO Canada-parents The Movie Network and Movie Central developed, commissioned and helped finance The Yard.

The miniseries was also produced with financing from the Canada Media Fund, Rogers Cable Network Fund and federal and Ontario tax credits.

Entertainment One is distributing the Canadian drama internationally.
