Facts, just the facts.
That’s what the CBC claims was in the text about Quebecor Media that it published online, and will not take down.
That’s despite Quebecor Media last week ordering the CBC to issue a retraction and an apology over what it called “false and defamatory” accusations.
In a release that accompanied the CBC’s official response to Quebecor’s formal notice of possible legal action, the pubcaster insisted the website publication is not malicious, that its contents are facts and are not defamatory.
The CBC added it would defend itself against any potential lawsuit.
“CBC/Radio-Canada also advises Quebecor that any legal action it takes against the corporation in this matter would be considered unfounded, and vigorously challenged,” the pubcaster said.
The CBC’s text against Quebecor was contained in a document entitled ‘What Quebecor won’t tell you about its attacks on the public broadcaster’ and another document titled ‘Examining Quebecor Media’s Free Market Message.’
“The documents were simply posted to present the facts to the public,” the CBC said.
