Benedict Carver joins eOne for film and TV development

Benedict Carver, the producing partner for X-Men screenwriter David Hayter, has joined Entertainment One as SVP of filmed entertainment.

Carver was already developing scripted shows for network, cable and syndication sale out of Entertainment One’s Los Angeles office as part of Dark Hero Studios and a first-look deal.

He will now come in-house to identify strategic opportunities, properties and partnerships for Entertainment One’s film and TV groups, reporting to Noreen Halpern, president of dramatic programming, TV, and Lara Thompson, SVP, worldwide acquisitions.

“Benedict has a knack for bringing the right talent together,” Halpern said in a statement on news of Carver’s appointment.

Carver will look on the TV side for branded properties to be developed into series, and on the film side, he will look to executive produce and help package projects.

Entertainment One and Dark Hero will continue work on the announced TV series Push, based on Summit Entertainment’s 2009 feature film of the same name, which is being jointly developed and produced with Summit Entertainment.

Entertainment One also has the Canadian rights to David Hayter’s screen adaptation of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern, also previously announced.
