CBC and Rogers Sportsnet to air FIFA Women’s World Cup

Vuvuzela alert: The CBC is pacting with Rogers Sportsnet to bring all games from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 tournament in Germany to Canadian TV screens.

The CBC will air all games involving the sixth-ranked Canadian team live, as well as three of four quarterfinal matches, the semi-final game and the bronze and gold medal matches.

And partner Rogers Sportsnet will air one quarterfinal match live, and encore broadcasts of the quarterfinal, semi-final, bronze and gold medal matches.

Rogers Sportsnet will also air live 18 early-round matches not featuring Canada’s women’s team.

The tournament coverage from Germany will start on June 26 with CBC airing the Germany vs. Canada game, while Rogers Sportsnet airs the Nigeria vs. France matchup.
