An American short about a man’s hidden passion for dance has snagged the $1,500 Shortsnonstop cash prize from the CFC.
Joonki Park’s 3D animation Friday Night Tights was selected from 10 finalists as the best short film this quarter. Along with the cash prize, Park’s film will also be available to Telus wireless, ADSL and Telus TV VOD clients, as well as at the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival awards preshow in June.
Meanwhile, Kenny Wu from the US took home the iThentic Audience Award for his film Parts, which takes a look at teeth brushing with cinematic effects, receiving the most audience votes.
Nine other finalists will also receive promotion and distribution from Telus, including Canadians Chris Kim for In Retrospect and Eduardo Monteil for Ranjit and Bumba.
The Shortsnonstop Mobile Movie Festival takes place year-round and accepts entries on an ongoing basis. The CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival descends on Toronto from May 31 to June 5.
