New realities for Food, Slice and HGTV

Shaw Media is kicking off the dog days of summer this July with five new shows on its specialty channels, Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada and Slice.

Food Network Canada will gain two new series, Top Chef: Just Desserts (pictured) and The Delinquent Gourmet. The Top Chef spinoff will focus only on desserts and will premiere July 11 at 9 p.m., featuring pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini, chef Hubert Keller and DailyCandy editor-at-large Dannielle Kyrillos as the expert judges.

The Delinquent Gourmet will debut July 16 at 7 p.m., and will follow “bad boy chef” Gord Martin on a trip around the world, tasting food from new cultures as he goes.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for both of the new Food Network shows, according to a representative from Shaw Media. Top Chef: Just Desserts and Delinquent Gourment will be promoted on Food Network properties.

HGTV features the premiere of Deck Wars on July 7 at 10 p.m. The show, which is the second deck-specific program (are we noticing a trend?) for the channel this year will pit competitiors against each other in a race to build the best deck within the alloted time frame.

The only non-reality show to join Shaw Media’s lifestyle programming this summer, Drop Dead Diva, will have its network premiere on Slice July 2 at 3pm. It’s the story of a shallow model who dies in a car crash and is reincarnated as a plus-sized lawyer.
