Banff fest launches Summit

Along with the Paley Center for Media, the Banff World Media Festival is introducing The Summit at Banff to take place just before its annual fest on June 11 and 12.

Senior execs will take part in the invite-only roundtable discussions, meetings and presentations with a focus on leadership and opps in the age of convergence and technological innovation.

“The Summit will provide a rare moment for international media leaders to gather together in an exclusive, retreat-like environment and get down to the business of developing productive and meaningful relationships with their counterparts from across the globe,” said Michael Hennessy, Banff World Media Festival Foundation chair in a statement.

Also recently announced is a panel with principal execs from Canada’s major broadcast media companies, thus far including Phil Lind, vice chairman, Rogers Communications; Paul Robertson, group VP, broadcasting and president, Shaw Media; Kevin Crull, COO, CTVglobemedia; Kirstine Stewart, EVP, English Services, CBC; and John Riley, president, Astral Television Networks.

The execs will respond to issues on the present media ecosystem, and will also take questions submitted online via Twitter (@BanffMedia) or the fest’s Facebook page. The panel will be moderated by Report on Business senior reporter Gordon Pitts.

The Banff World Media Festival runs June 12 to 15.
