David Kines new MuchFact chair

David Kines has some big shoes to fill.

The veteran Canadian music TV producer is the new chairman of CTV’s MuchFact, and only the second in the organization’s history.

Kines replaces indie record company executive and talent manager Bernie Finkelstein, who stepped down as chair of MuchFACT after 26 years in the post.

Finklestein, who founded True North Records and has been a mainstay of the Canadian music industry since the 1960s, served as chair of video funding body, formerly known as VideoFACT, since its launch in 1984.

Kines, no less accomplished in his own career, was an editor on the iconic The New Music show on Citytv before helping launch the MuchMusic channel.

“I am honored to help MuchFACT and Much continue to support independent Canadian musicians,” he said Friday.

Over the years, MuchFACT has invested around $63 million dollars in over 5,200 projects to help Canadian music artists further their careers.
