Former Alliance Atlantis Communications topper Michael MacMillan has a new sideline gig in mobile game development.
MacMillan has joined the board of directors at Fuse Powered, the mobile game developer, where he will help senior management, led by chairman Yung Wu and CEO Jon Walsh, execute on their move into the iOS game space.
“I see enormous opportunity for Fuse Powered. With some solid early success already under the belt, I believe Fuse is in the right space at the right time,” MacMillan said in a statement.
“The iOS publishing space is a strong business play, not only from a technology standpoint, but more importantly, as one being fueled by consumer demand,” he added.
MacMillan, who has been rumored to have an eye for political office and co-founded Samara, a non-profit organization, is making his first pure-play foray back into Canadian media with his Fuse Powered boardroom gig.
He jumps on board just as the former ByteMark Games firm rebrands as Fuse Powered, shifts towards the iOS game platform and launches a new web site.
The company is also diversifying into mobile game publishing after finding success with iPhone action shooter game titles like Jaws and Dawn of the Dead, both movie based, along with Babo Crash and Retro Pinball.
MacMillan’s appointment is timed to coincide with the GDC conference in San Francisco, where Fuse Powered execs will be on hand.
