The Canadian producers of Flashpoint have inked a US syndication deal that will see upcoming original episodes of the Toronto-shot cop drama air on both CBS and US cable channel ION, Anne Marie La Traverse and Bill Mustos said Friday.
ION, which has done well airing Canuck dramas like The Border and The Guard, will air 51 episodes of Flashpoint after CBS airs an upcoming 13-episode run comprising six episodes from the third season still on the shelf, and another seven from CTV’s upcoming fourth season of the drama.
CTV gave the Flashpoint producers an 18-episode order for a fourth season, so a return of the Canadian procedural to the CBS schedule was expected.
Flashpoint on CBS and Rookie Blue on ABC have given their respective US networks something they covet: a low-cost script drama that reliably fills their schedules, especially in the summer.
Flashpoint is produced by Pink Sky Entertainment and Avamar Entertainment, in association with CTV and CBS Television Studios.
La Traverse and Mustos executive produce the crime drama.
Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern created Flashpoint.
More to come.
