Peppa Pig brings her clout, snout to Nick Jr. US

Entertainment One’s successful UK-hatched series Peppa Pig has landed a daily slot on Nick Jr. US.

The preschool series, which aired briefly in the US on Cartoon Network’s now-defunct preschool block Tickle U, currently airs as an interstitial series on Nick Jr. US and is broadcast in 180 territories worldwide.

Created by Astley Baker Davies and co-owned and distributed by eOne, the series now has 156 episodes and an additional 52 are slated for delivery over the next two years.

Olivier Dumont, MD of eOne Kids, anticipates that the brand’s global success, particularly within the UK, will be contagious Stateside. He says the sale to Nick Jr. is also laying the groundwork for an extensive consumer products rollout in the US.

“We are in discussions around consumer products. No plans are finalized yet, but we are talking with partners and setting up a consumer products division because eOne already has offices in New York and L.A.,” says Dumont.

Dumont also says Peppa offers an extensive brand package with plenty of digital assets that have already caught the eye of Nick Jr.’s digital team. The first official Peppa iPhone app, Peppa Pig Happy Mrs Chicken, was a bestseller in the UK within hours of its September release.
