Durham County producer Back Alley Film Productions and Muse Entertainment are developing a TV movie for HBO Canada to follow the homegrown drama’s third and final season.
Adrienne Mitchell, director and executive producer of Durham County, said series writer Laurie Finstad Knizhnik is penning a stand-alone two hour drama that sees homicide detective Mike Sweeney, played by Hugh Dillon (Flashpoint), reconnect with a major first season character, Ray Prager, a serial killer played by Justin Louis.
HBO Canada confirmed a telefilm is in the works.
Durham County bowed on The Movie Network and Movie Central in 2007 as a dark crime drama, with the first season also airing on Global Television.
Mitchell was recently named the best TV drama director at the Directors Guild of Canada awards for her work on Durham County, and the series received seven nominations for the upcoming Gemini Awards, including best dramatic series and Mitchell contending for best drama series direction.
Durham County is produced by Mitchell, Finstad Knizhnik, Janis Lundman and Michael Prupas.
