Stepping down from her role as Global National‘s European Bureau Chief, Tara Nelson will soon be taking over the anchor chair at CTV Calgary’s CTV News at Six.
As a foreign correspondent with more than 20 years of experience, she spent the last two years in London, reporting on major stories from the Canadian troops in Kandahar to the World Cup. She was also Global National’s weekend anchor as well as a B.C. correspondent, with previous experience at Global Edmonton (formerly ITV), CHEK Victoria, Global B.C. (then BCTV) and then Global National.
In the meantime, senior anchor Darrel Janz will stay at the anchor desk during the weekends, but in the coming months will transition to a specialized reporter role.
“With Tara in place, the timing is perfect for me to step back a little from the anchor desk and concentrate on another passion – telling stories,” said Janz in a statement.
Nelson begins in mid-November.
