Viewers around the world will now have high-speed access to NFB films, as the Film Board inks two new digital distribution deals.
Thirty of its films are now available on documentary VOD/Pay Per View subscription site Joiningthedocs in the UK, which offers worldwide access.
The NFB has also signed an agreement with New Video that will see 10 of its titles heading for iTunes in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
“Digital transformation and wide accessibility are our priorities and these are the kinds of partnerships that take the NFB to the next level in terms of digital distribution,” said Deborah Disdell, NFB Director General of Access and Digital Enterprises, in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Film Board is prepping to launch its nation-wide Get Animated program. It’s the fourth edition of its animation screenings and activities surrounding International animation Day on October 28.
The program kicks off in Toronto from October 26-31, then Montreal (October 28-31), Winnipeg (October 28–31), Edmonton (October 28), Halifax (October 28–29, November 6–7), Vancouver (October 28–November 1), Moncton (October 31) and Calgary (November 6–7).
The NFB site will house a Get Animated playlist, and will host screenings of new releases including Higglety Pigglety Pop! or There Must Be More to Life, from Oscar nominees Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski (Madame Tutli-Putli) based on the book by Maurice Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are), Theodore Ushev’s Lipsett Diaries, and Nicolas Brault’s Folimage/NFB co-pro The Circus.
Get Animated will also include a Fairy Tales for All program, as well as a number of master classes in each city.
