Liev Schreiber joins Michael Dowse’s Goon

Liev Schreiber is lacing up his skates for the Michael Dowse theatrical comedy Goon, which is set to start shooting in Winnipeg from October 18.

Schreiber will play yet another on-ice bruiser on a rag-tag hockey team in the indie comedy that follows in the wake of Michael McGowan’s Score: A Hockey Musical, which is to hit Canadian theatres on October 22.

Also on board the Canadian film is Seann William Scott, Alison Pill as the female lead, Marc-André Grondin, and Jay Baruchel, who penned the script for Goon with Evan Goldberg (Superbad).

Producer credits on Goon are with Don Carmody, David Gross and Jesse Shapira.

Alliance Films is to release the indie comedy theatrically.
