Syfy renews Haven for second season

The Syfy channel stateside has renewed the supernatural Haven series from Entertainment One for a second season, with production set to resume in Nova Scotia on another 13 episodes in spring 2011.

The first season, which also aired on Showcase in Canada and globally through Universal Networks International, was shot on location in the Atlantic Canada seaside town of Lunenburg, which stood in for the fictitious Maine town of Haven.

The series stars Emily Rose as an FBI agent solving the murder of a local ex-con, and includes Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, Richard Donat and John Dunsworth in the cast.

The sophomore season of Haven is set for a summer 2011 bow, Entertainment One said Thursday.

Canwest had picked up the series earlier this spring.
