Ontario cable operator Cable Cable has picked up the newly launched Rogers Sportsnet One digital specialty channel, which includes remaining Toronto Blue Jays baseball games for this season.

The deal with Rogers Communications makes Cable Cable the first non-Rogers cabler to pick up Sportsnet One, which bills itself as a major carrier of Toronto Blue Jays game telecasts.

Sportsnet One, which launched August 14, not yet carried on other major cable and satellite TV carriers has Blue Jays fans countrywide crying foul over being denied a look-in on the last part of the Toronto baseball club’s season.

Cable Cable, which serves subscribers in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, will carry Sportsnet One as part of its digital starter package, in both standard digital and high-definition.

“All of our staff here at Cable Cable felt that it was in the best interest of our customers to ensure they did not miss out on the balance of the Blue Jays regular season games,” Michael Fiorini, vice president and general manager of Cable Cable, said.

“We are also thankful to Rogers Media who worked closely with us over the past few days to make this happen quickly,” he added.

Also Friday, TSN2, the secondary digital channel for TSN, reached agreement with Canada Basketball to air the upcoming 2010 FIBA World Championship for womens’ basketball.
