Los Angeles-based distribution and sales company Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to Peterson Polaris Corp.’s coming-of-age comedy This Too Shall Pass.
The film follows a 16-year-old who, feeling restricted by his Mormon upbringing, crosses the Canadian border for a weekend getaway with his friends.
This Too Shall Pass was written and directed by Rob Grant (Harpoon) and produced by David Hiatt and Michael Peterson (Shadow Of God) of the Calgary-based Peterson Polaris. Michael Simon Baker and Jason R. Ellis of Eclipse Management & Entertainment are executive producers.
The film stars Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space), Jeremy Ray Taylor (It), Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), Jaylin Webb (Armageddon Time), Nikki Roumel (Ginny & Georgia), Munro Chambers (Turbo Kid), Chris Sandiford (What We Do in the Shadows), Aidan Laprete (The Wilds), and Ben Cockell (Goosebumps).
Also starring is Joanne Kelly (City on a Hill), Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers), Robert Longstreet (Sorry to Bother You) and Kids in the Hall‘s Mark McKinney.
The deal was negotiated by Michael Huntsman on behalf of Blue Fox with Paradigm Talent Agency negotiating on behalf of the filmmakers. Blue Fox, which expanded to Canada earlier this year, will launch sales for the film at the American Film Market starting Nov. 5 in Las Vegas.
Telefilm Canada provided financial support for the film, which will be making its world premiere this month at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.
Bravo
Rogers Communications has picked up the rights to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen for specialty channel Bravo and streaming platform Citytv+ in Canada.
The talk show is hosted by Cohen and features regular celebrity guests discussing various Bravo reality series, including Vanderpump Rules and titles from the Real Housewives and Below Deck franchises. It is produced by New York-based prodco Embassy Row.
The show debuted in Canada last Sunday (Nov. 3), and will air live on Bravo every Sunday through Thursday night, according to a news release.
According to Rogers, Bravo has reached more than two million Canadians since returning in September. The previous Bravo channel in Canada was operated by Bell Media and was rebranded to CTV Drama in 2019. Rogers picked up the rights to launch a new Bravo channel from NBCUniversal in June.
Pluto TV
Pluto TV has partnered with NBCUniversal’s global TV distribution to add several comedy series to its streaming platform in Canada.
All seasons of Will and Grace, as well as series such as Becker, Wings and Dear John, are now available via the FAST channel More Pluto TV Comedy.
Pluto TV is also bringing two new channels to Canada and the U.K. in November: Pluto TV 80s Action, with series like Miami Vice, Knight Rider and The A-Team; as well as Pluto TV Sci-Fi, which includes series such as Battlestar Galactica, Sliders and Quantum Leap.
