USA goes for more Covert Affairs

Good news for the Toronto production community: USA Network has renewed Covert Affairs for a second season on boffo ratings after the rookie season episodes for the Piper Perabo-starring spy drama debuted July 13.

The first season was shot in Toronto, and most major roles and extras were cast in the city.

The ensemble cast includes Christopher Gorham, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Peter Gallagher, Kari Matchett and Anne Dudek.

The series centers on a CIA trainee, played by Perabo, who goes on a host of international assignments. During the first season, that had Toronto standing in for Sri Lanka and Venezuela, among other exotic locales.

Covert Affairs is produced by Universal Cable Productions, and executive produced by Doug Liman and Dave Bartis.
