The Newfoundland-based dramedy Republic of Doyle is headed Down Under.

ABC Australia has acquired the CBC series from Take the Shot Productions.

Meanwhile, the CBC has ordered a second season of the Canadian sleuth series, which stars Newfoundland actor Allan Hawco, for a mid-summer run.

Production on 13 new episodes of Republic of Doyle is underway in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
