Impatient Pictures’ MacKenzie signs on to copros

Trans Atlantic Partners, a two-part co-production training program put on by Canada’s Strategic Partners and Germany’s Erich Pommer Institut, has resulted in two coproduction deals.

Emmy Award-winning producer Gregory MacKenzie of Impatient Pictures signed on to both Dreamland, a Bulgarian film produced by Svetoslav Doytchinov, and Birthday Girl, a British film produced by Jamie Nuttgens.

The first module of Trans Atlantic Partners took place in Berlin last week under the tutelage of instructors such as Barbara Shrier (Un ange à la mer), Amy Gilliam (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) and Ilann Girard (Goodbye Bafana). The second is set to go this September in Halifax, and will concentrate on meetings with financiers, agencies, distributors, broadcasters and traditional co-production partners from across the world.

Strategic Partners is presented by the Atlantic Film Festival Association, and is supported by bodies which include Telefilm, Canwest and Film Nova Scotia.
