CBC and PBS Kids have come on board a second season of the preschool series Super Why! from Out of the Blue Enterprises and Decode Entertainment.

The Canadian and U.S. pubcasters have commissioned 15 new episodes, bringing the total available shows to 80 x 22. The educational-based series helps preschoolers learn to read by featuring literacy themed super heroes and interactive adventures with storybooks.

Why! already airs around the world on channels including Nickelodeon U.K. and Australia, OKTO TV in Singapore, Korea’s EBS, ATV in Hong Kong and Thailand’s True Visions. DHX Media holds worldwide TV rights excluding the U.S.

Decode (Animal Mechanicals, Franny’s Feet) is a subsidiary of Halifax’s DHX, while New York-based Out of the Blue is led by former Nickelodeon execs Samantha Freeman and Angela Santomaro.
