Fuchs exits CBC

Fred Fuchs is stepping down as GM of production enterprises at CBC for a new role as executive producer of Take 5 Productions’ copro Camelot.

CBC announced his departure on Thursday. Fuchs was recently promoted at the pubcaster and put in charge of boosting the financial and overseas appeal of its shows, in addition to overseeing the networks new feature film effort with Telefilm Canada.

CBC’s EVP of English services Richard Stursberg credited Fuchs for helping to shepherd shows such as Heartland, Little Mosque on the Prairie, The Tudors and Being Erica to television and online.

‘While Fred will no longer have a formal, ongoing role with CBC, we expect to continue to see him in his new executive producer role,’ Stursberg added in a release.

‘It was a privilege and honor to contribute to making Canada’s public broadcaster such a successful entertainment brand. I look forward to continuing to work with CBC and other Canadian broadcasters and producers to create more high-quality entertainment content,’ said Fuchs.

Marcela Kadanka, senior exec in charge of movies at CBC, will now oversee its feature film initiative.

Starz Entertainment recently greenlit Camelot — a modern-day retelling of the Arthurian legend — which begins production in Ireland this summer. John Weber’s Take 5 will oversee post-production in Toronto on an initial 10-episode order.
