TSN and Showcase both revealed deals with Apple on Tuesday — the sportscaster unveiling an app for the Masters while the Canwest cable channel said it will make more of its original content available through iTunes.
TSN Mobile: Masters Live — a free app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad — provides live streaming for all four rounds of the tournament, along with the option to follow featured groups live. Other features include a live leaderboard and breaking news.
Meanwhile, Showcase is making series such as Trailer Park Boys and Kenny vs. Spenny available for purchase and download.
Viewers can buy old episodes, download entire seasons and pre-order new eps. Series currently available are season one of Cra$h & Burn, The Foundation, Pure Pwnage and Testees, plus seasons one through seven of TPB and four through six of Kenny vs. Spenny. Episodes cost $1.99.
‘We always strive to find new ways to engage Canadian viewers through multiple platforms and availability on iTunes is an exciting move forward in that direction.’ said Paul Burns, VP of digital at Canwest.
