+ Frantic Films’ popular reality series ‘Til Debt Do Us Part is headed to U.S. cable channel CNBC, following a deal reached on behalf of the producers by Toronto’s Picture Box Distribution. The sale gives Debt – which previously aired stateside on the smaller American Life TV Network – more prominent exposure in the U.S. on CNBC, which reaches 97 million American homes.

+ The Whistler Film Festival says it will screen a total of 80 films at its ninth edition, getting underway Dec. 3, with 80% of the titles being screened for the first time in what is a record for the fest. WFF will open with Jacob Tierney’s The Trotsky and wrap with the skiing doc The Edge of Never.

+ Cuppa Coffee Studios, best known for its stop-motion productions, is expanding its 2D capabilities with the new Flash-animated series Ugly Americans for Comedy Central. The Toronto-based prodco says it has established a department entirely devoted to Flash productions, boasting 50 Mac-based stations equipped with 21-inch Cintiqs and an HD suite.

+ Bell TV has become the first Canadian content carrier to distribute 100 HD channels by offering AMC and its hit drama Mad Men to its digital subscribers. AMC will be offered at no extra cost to Bell TV’s premium movie theme package subscribers in standard and high definition.
