Sony has tweaked its EX1 camera — adding cache recording, HDMI output and improved ergonomics to its successor, the EX1R, due to start shipping this month.
‘We heard a lot of comments about the balance’ of the EX1, says Sony’s Tatsuro Kurachi, at the recent HD Expo trade show. The new model ‘is the same weight, but the balance will be on your palm rather than your forearm. We’re hoping this will alleviate some of the fatigue.’
The EX1R also has a one-push auto iris and a 15-second recorder cache. The cache ‘might not be a big thing here in the U.S., but it was a very big request from the other parts of the world,’ he notes.
