Being Erica and The Tudors are getting the high definition treatment from CBC, which has become the first Canuck broadcaster to offer original homegrown programming in the format on iTunes, according to a Thursday release.

The shows had been available in standard definition, along with a selection of other Ceeb programs including The Rick Mercer Report, The Border, Heartland, Dragon’s Den and Little Mosque on the Prairie. The high definition versions of the time travelling comedy and historical drama launched this month.

The move is part of an ongoing effort by CBC to stay abreast of digital applications, having also recently launched its iPhone application for radio.

Erica, from Temple Street Productions, and Tudors, a CBC copro with Peace Arch Entertainment and Showtime, are available in HD for $2.99 per episode.
