+ Shooting on The Republic of Doyle has resumed following an outbreak of swine flu on its St John’s set. The shoot missed five days out of its schedule as a result. ‘We’ll make up those days either in the body of the schedule or by tacking on some additional days,’ says producer Rob Blackie of Take the Shot Productions.
+ Michel Côté has paid off at the box office yet again, where his buddy cop comedy De père en flic has shot past the $6.7 million mark after four weeks. The Alliance Vivafilm release is produced by Cinémaginaire’s Denise Robert and Daniel Louis, and stars Côté (C.R.A.Z.Y., the Cruising Bar films) and Louis-José Houde (Bon Cop, Bad Cop) as father-and-son cops forced to work together, despite deep-seated differences.
+ CTV’s Tamara Taggart will fill in for Kelly Ripa next month, one of 10 broadcasters who were named as guest co-hosts of ABC’s Live! with Regis and Kelly. The B.C. weatherwoman, attached to Van’s CIVT, will fill in for Ripa one day during the week of Aug. 17-21, opposite longtime co-host Regis Philbin.
+ BBC Worldwide has struck a deal with iTunes, making shows including Doctor Who and Torchwood available for download in Canada. The deal is the first of its kind for Beeb shows in Canada, and also includes season 11 of the automotive series Top Gear.
