Brits pick up Erica

Temple Street Productions has licensed its Being Erica to E4, the free-to-air digital channel in the U.K.

The deal was brokered by BBC Worldwide, which holds a 25% stake in the Toronto production company. Gill Hay, head of acquisitions at E4 parent Channel 4 is responsible for the pickup, which is reportedly see the comic-drama air in early October.

Temple Street is currently shooting season two of the series for CBC, which will comprise 12 episodes, down from the 13 of the first season, because of the Ceeb’s programming cuts for the 2009/10 season.

Being Erica stars Erin Karpluk as a young woman who, through the help of a therapist, is able to go back in time and re-live any regrets she may have from her past. The show launched on CBC in January and since then has been licensed to Net 5 in the Netherlands, Paramount Comedy in Spain, ABC1 in Australia and SoapNet in the U.S.
