Charles Tremayne has been hired as the new EVP of programming at Cineflix Productions. Tremayne will oversee factual programming for Cineflix in the U.K. and U.S. and will also open and head up the New York office for the company. He starts in July, reporting to Cineflix president of programming, Simon Lloyd.
‘I have watched Cineflix grow from being a small Canadian producer to becoming one of the leading production companies in the world. It is the right time to join a forward looking company at a pivotal moment in their growth,’ said Tremayne in a statement.
After working at the BBC and Granada, Tremayne moved to the U.S. in 2000, where he headed a joint venture between Granada and The New York Times. He was responsible for creating such reality TV shows as A&E’s Airline and First 48, and Room Raiders on MTV. He has also executive produced a number of shows for TLC, Discovery, HGTV, truTV and PBS. In 2002, he won an Emmy as executive producer for a PBS Nova episode on bioterrorism.
