Global puts primetime online

Global TV is increasing its online offerings as part of a new overall strategy that includes cross-promoting its traditional network, analog and digital specialty services with high-def transmission beginning soon in Edmonton and Calgary.

The move, unveiled this week at the network’s fall upfront, gives viewers full online access to returning and new programs including all primetime shows — although additional VOD rights are still being negotiated.

In April, Global relaunched its site redesign and according to comScore’s Video Metrix March 2009 numbers, it’s now the country’s fastest growing broadcast site.
