$40,000 for Cruising Bar team

The key creatives behind Cruising Bar 2 drew applause from Telefilm Canada on Thursday, taking the second annual Guichet d’or grants. The prize — presented on the recommendation of the Canada Feature Film Fund and the French Market Working Group at Telefilm — cheers the comedy sequel which has grossed $3.5 million since its chart-topping release last year.

The prize comes with $40,000 to be shared by co-writer/directors Robert Ménard and Michel Côté, and co-writer Claire Wojas.

‘Telefilm Canada continues to target broad audiences with diverse feature films,’ said chairman Michel Roy. ‘The board and management join me in congratulating… our 2008 winners.’

Last year’s prize went to director Patrick Huard and writers Pierre Lamothe and Claude Lalonde for Les 3 p’tits cochons.
