Apple TV+’s Severance saw its Canadian demand continue to rise in late January.
The dark comedy was 43.2 times more in demand than the average TV show in Canada during the week of Jan. 20 to 26, according to Parrot Analytics. Its second season premiered on Apple TV+ Jan. 17 and held a demand average of 38.5 on the week of its release. The series follows a group of workers who have had the memories of their work and personal lives surgically separated.
Netflix’s Squid Game remained the top series despite its demand average dropping 90.3 from the week prior to 69.1. The Korean-language thriller’s second season released on Dec. 26, 2024 with its third season coming June 27.
Paramount+’s Landman retained the No. 3 spot following its season one finale on Jan. 11 and Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel reclaimed the No. 4 spot from Netflix’s American Primeval, which dropped to No. 10.
Prime Video’s Beast Games made its debut on the Hot Sheet at No. 5 in late January with a demand average of 28. The reality series from popular YouTuber MrBeast is a Squid Game-styled competition where contestants vie for a $5-million prize. Toronto-headquartered Blink49 Studios was the production service provider for the Toronto shoot. Beast Games premiered Dec. 19, 2024, and its seventh of 10 episodes released on Jan. 23.
For overall originals, Saturday Night Live saw its demand average jump to 67.7, an increase from its demand average of 55.2 the week prior. The Daily Show remained in the No. 3 spot with a demand average of 51.8, dropping from 53.7 the previous week.
