This is it. This is the last newsprint issue of Playback magazine. After more than 23 years of ink-stained fingers, we’re officially going glossy. We’ll remain your biweekly source in print for all things Canadian media, but now you won’t have to wash your hands after reading us.
With that new look comes a different focus. When I came on to the mag a few weeks back, I knew we wanted to make changes, but we also felt it was important to honor the past – honor the expectations of our readership. So, hopefully you’ll find that what we’re planning will be additive.
Look for more analysis and more in-depth coverage of the talent and big thinkers in the industry. Look for a more international focus – how are Canadians faring on the global stage, and how do international events impact on the industry here at home. Look for more big ideas.
And most of all, look for Playback to become more about you. We want this to be more than an industry mag, we want it to be your mag. We want to include more of your opinions and your feedback. We want to hear what’s pissing you off and what you’re worried about. We want to hear about your brilliant ideas and we want to celebrate with you.
And all that starts Feb. 16 with our CFTPA issue. Stay tuned, and let us know what you think.
