NFB goes to Washington

The National Film Board’s history of Oscar wins and nominations will be cheered later this month in Washington, DC by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

NFB boss Tom Perlmutter, animation producer Marcy Page and Torill Kove, director of the 2006 best animated short winner The Danish Poet, will be on hand Oct. 23 when the Academy and other groups present A Salute to the National Film Board of Canada at the National Archives in the U.S. capitol.

The event will include screenings of notable NFB shorts, including Kove’s Danish Poet, Chris Landreth’s Oscar-winning Ryan, Ryan Larkin’s Walking, and Neighbours, Norman McLaren’s masterwork from 1952. Animation critic and historian Charles Solomon will host the evening.
