Satellite provider Bell TV on Saturday announced that it had made TSN2 available to its subscribers.
TSN’s secondary channel launched on August 29, and is now carried by 16 providers nationwide, including Cogeco in Ontario, EastLink and SaskTel. But certainly getting national digital carrier Bell on board is a weight off the sports channel’s shoulders. One wouldn’t have expected it to take this long, considering they’re part of the same family: TSN is 80% owned by CTVglobemedia, and 20% by ESPN, while Bell Canada is a 15% owner of CTVgm.
TSN2 is now available to Bell TV subscribers who already get TSN, and is also available in HD.
‘With the addition of TSN2, Bell TV continues to be Canada’s leading digital TV provider, offering more HD channels than any other provider coast to coast,’ said Kevin Crull, president of Bell residential services, in a statement.
For his part, TSN president Phil King added, ‘In just the first few weeks of TSN2’s launch, the network has given Canadians exclusive live coverage of major events that couldn’t be seen anywhere else. We’re thrilled that Bell TV subscribers will now be able to join us for all the action.’
The sportscaster is set to reveal TSN2’s schedule of NHL, NBA, and UEFA Champions League games in the coming days. Next, it needs to firm up carriage deals with the likes of Rogers Cable, Shaw and Star Choice.
