The CBC is considering the primetime drama Fashion Week from Germany’s Dreamtool Entertainment for possible acquisition.
A CBC spokesman said ‘early day’ discussions have taken place with Munich-based Dreamtool and the series’ distributor, EOS, but added that no deal has been inked.
Dreamtool earlier this week jumped the gun by announcing that German broadcaster RTL and CBC had each ordered 12 episodes of the series about clothing designers and models at work and play in the world of high fashion. The $30-million English-language drama is set for a mid-2008 production schedule.
The pubcaster is no stranger to fashion, having long aired the Fashion File magazine series on CBC Newsworld and the main CBC network. Last winter, the CBC aired a reality TV series to find a new host for the show, which presents the latest international catwalk news and fashions.
